In the Community

Community Heroes

Community development is a priority at Royal City Soccer. By hiring local staff and partnering with neighbourhood facilities, we support and strengthen the communities where we operate.

We are grateful to the many local community centres, swimming pools, churches, and schools that partner with us to make our summer camp program possible.

At Royal City Soccer Club, we take great pride in building strong relationships with local heroes. Many of our camps welcome visits from police officers, firefighters, and other community service professionals, giving campers a chance to learn about the people who keep us safe.

It’s not unusual for campers to enjoy a tour of a fire rescue vehicle or participate in a Q&A session with local police officers. These experiences help children connect with their community and gain an appreciation for those who serve and protect.

By reaching out to local Police & Fire Departments, and other community representatives, we create meaningful opportunities for campers to interact with real-life heroes.

Promoting Girls in Sports

We believe in the importance of promoting girls in sport. Beyond supporting physical health, it helps develop confidence, leadership, and empowerment – skills that positively influence all areas of life.

Donations

We are grateful to the many incredible Royal City Soccer Club supporters across the country. Thanks to their generous donations and support, thousands of children are able to attend our camps and enjoy experiences they might not otherwise have the opportunity to.

We believe summer day camp experiences leave a lasting impact on every camper. Our programs help children develop life skills such as leadership, confidence, problem-solving, and teamwork, all while promoting an active, healthy lifestyle.

Donations to the Royal City Fund help families in financial need give their children this valuable opportunity. Contact us to learn how you can donate and make a difference.

Royal City Soccer Club has a long history of supporting campers experiencing financial need through our partnerships with local community organizations. Each year, we proudly donate hundreds of camp weeks to more than 70 organizations across Canada.

Our partner organizations include Children’s Aid Societies, Boys & Girls Clubs, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and many other family and children’s programs. We also contribute camp weeks to school fundraisers to help support local communities.

While we do not provide donations directly to individual families, we work closely with partner organizations across the country and can connect families with programs that may provide access to camp. Contact us to learn more.

Financial Assistance

As a non-profit organization, Royal City Soccer Club works hard to keep camp costs as low as possible, so every child has the chance to attend. We understand that some families may face financial challenges, which is why we partner with trusted organizations to create opportunities for children to participate in our camps:

Kidsport

KidSport Canada is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids 18 and under. Through a confidential application process, KidSport provides grants so children can play a season of sport. For more information on Kidsport in your province, click below.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a charitable program that supports participation in organized sports and recreation to low-income families. Their goal is to help remove financial barriers. Funding is typically available for kids and youth between the ages of 4 and 18. For more information please contact 1-877-616-6600.

Meeting Our Soccer Heroes

We love introducing tomorrow’s soccer stars to today’s soccer heroes! Take a look at just some examples of our campers meeting Canadian soccer legends like Christine Sinclair, to inspire and motivate them in soccer, and in life.

RCSC Around the World

While our summer camps take place in Canada, our reach extends far beyond! Over the years, we’ve sent soccer balls and equipment to children on four continents. When our staff and friends travel—especially to communities with fewer opportunities—they bring items that help kids play, stay active, and enjoy the game we love.

At Royal City Soccer Club, we’re uniting the world, one kick at a time! Some of the countries we’ve supported include:

Confidence Building

Perseverance, learning from failure, and taking risks all help build confidence. However, gender differences can influence these experiences: girls are often discouraged from making mistakes or taking risks, while boys are more frequently rewarded for doing so. Other factors that may contribute to lower participation by girls in certain activities include:

In some communities, girls have fewer opportunities and less access to facilities for participating in sports compared to boys.

Despite progress in recent years, female athletes may still face discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, whether perceived or real. Some girls experience bullying or other forms of harassment as a result of this social stigma.

Unfortunately, budget cuts in schools and communities across the country have reduced the number of affordable opportunities available to children.

Today’s youth are often exposed to images that emphasize external beauty rather than strong female athletic role models. This focus on appearance, combined with peer pressure, can be challenging for girls—especially if it is not balanced by encouragement, support, and positive role models.

Royal City Soccer Club is committed to encouraging and supporting girls in sport by removing barriers and creating an environment where they feel comfortable, safe, valued, and empowered to participate in all activities. We believe it is essential that girls have the same opportunities as boys to develop life skills through sport.

A camp experience that encourages socializing, fun, and creativity can greatly influence girls’ confidence and participation in sport. At Royal City Soccer Club, our culture focuses not on winning or losing, but on enjoying the experience and the joy of participation.

At Royal City Soccer Club, we don’t emphasize competitiveness. While some children may naturally be more competitive, our priority is participation, learning, and enjoyment in a safe and supportive environment.

Campers have plenty of opportunities to develop advanced soccer skills with our trained staff, but we place equal focus on creating an engaging and encouraging atmosphere for all girls.

While we’re proud of our program, we’re always eager to hear from our participants. Whether through on-site feedback after activities or online parent surveys, all comments are taken seriously and carefully reviewed to ensure we provide the best possible experience for every camper and family.
